And something else...

OUR HISTORY

Littleton, USA – March 14, 2025

Littleton, a quaint town nestled among rolling hills and lush forests, may seem like just another peaceful community in rural America, but its origins are rooted in ambition, vision, and a determination to create a thriving, tight-knit community. Today, Littleton is known for its charming streets, small-town atmosphere, and a strong sense of community spirit. However, the path to its founding was not always smooth.

The Founding of Littleton

In 1960, a prosperous young entrepreneur named Robert Little had a vision for a new type of community—one that would offer families a peaceful, picturesque place to live away from the bustling cities nearby. Little, who had made his fortune in real estate, sought to find a perfect plot of land to begin his project. After much searching, he discovered a piece of land in the foothills, roughly 20 miles from the nearest major city. Despite its isolation, the land was cheap, expansive, and filled with natural beauty.

At the time, Robert was engaged to Rebecca Thompson, a young woman from a nearby town, who had a deep connection to the area. Despite her initial hesitations, Rebecca eventually supported her fiancé's dream. In the early days, Rebecca was concerned about the land’s remoteness and the challenges it might bring to their future, but Robert’s enthusiasm for the project overcame her doubts. He saw the land as a blank canvas for creating something special—a thriving town that would attract families and businesses alike.

The Early Years of Littleton

With the purchase of the land, the foundation for Littleton was laid. Robert Little, along with a small team of architects, builders, and local laborers, worked tirelessly to transform the land into a livable community. Roads were constructed, homes were built, and essential infrastructure such as schools, a community center, and a small grocery store were quickly established.

As more families moved in, the town began to take shape. Littleton’s location proved to be a selling point for many. With easy access to both rural and urban amenities, it attracted a variety of residents—from young families looking for a quiet place to raise children to older retirees looking for a peaceful place to enjoy their golden years.

By the late 1960s, Littleton had transformed from a barren plot of land to a bustling, thriving town. Its tight-knit community became known for its friendly atmosphere and a strong sense of shared values. The town was soon able to support its own schools, churches, and local businesses. In the early 1970s, a small library and a local diner were added, making Littleton a self-sufficient community.

The Town’s Growth and Challenges

In the decades that followed, Littleton saw gradual growth. The town attracted new residents seeking an escape from the stress and noise of city life. Local government officials worked to maintain the charm and serenity of Littleton while accommodating new families and businesses that brought economic stability to the area.

However, like many small towns, Littleton faced challenges over the years. The national economic recessions of the 1980s and early 2000s led to some financial difficulties, but the resilient community weathered these storms. The town’s close-knit atmosphere, along with its unique position as a hidden gem away from larger metropolitan areas, allowed it to continue growing slowly but steadily.

A Strong Sense of Community and the Origin of Benny the Bunny
One of Littleton's most defining features is its strong sense of community. Over the years, the town’s residents have come together to host annual events, from summer festivals to winter holiday parades. Local schools continue to thrive, offering small class sizes and individualized attention, and the local church remains an important gathering place for residents. It was during one of these early gatherings that the idea of Benny the Bunny, the town’s beloved mascot, was born.

The story of Benny traces back to the very day Robert Little and his wife, Rebecca, first visited the plot of land that would become Littleton. On that day, as they surveyed the land and discussed their dreams for the future, Robert spotted a rabbit hopping through the tall grass. He saw it as a sign of good luck, a welcoming gesture from nature itself, and a symbol that their vision would flourish. Rebecca, moved by the moment, named the rabbit “Benny”—a name that would later come to represent the spirit of Littleton.

From that point on, Benny became a symbol of the town’s founding, a reminder of the couple’s hope and vision for a thriving community. As Littleton grew, the memory of that first rabbit remained strong, and each year, the town celebrated its beginnings by honoring Benny on Easter Sunday. The annual “Benny’s Day” celebration became a cherished tradition, where the community would gather to celebrate the spirit of togetherness, kindness, and renewal—values that Benny the Bunny had come to symbolize.

Looking Forward

As Littleton looks to the future, the town is at a crossroads. In recent years, the town’s proximity to larger cities has attracted newcomers, including people seeking vacation homes and retirees. With this influx of residents, the town is carefully considering how to balance its historic charm with the demands of modernization. Local officials have discussed plans to update infrastructure, improve transportation, and support the growing demand for housing.

However, despite these new developments, Littleton remains committed to preserving the small-town feel that has been its trademark for over six decades. The community continues to uphold the values that made it successful: inclusivity, self-reliance, and a shared sense of responsibility for the town’s future.

A Bright Future for Littleton

As Littleton continues to grow and evolve, its rich history remains a central part of its identity.  The town’s founding vision—rooted in the dreams of a young couple in the 1960s—has become a                 and Littleton stands as a testament to the power of community, vision, and perseverance. While its future is filled with opportunities and challenges, the heart of Littleton remains unchanged: a place where families and individuals can come together to build a bright future.
